October 4, 2011

Tonight I called and Owen couldn't make Las Trojas, however he could be done in time to make the Lone Goose.  So I decided to pick up Steve and go ahead and play at Las Trojas and then we would catch up to Owen at the Lone Goose during the first round there.  Ah if that were only how it worked!  Turns out that we were doing GREAT in the first few rounds with only missing 1 question.  However this birthday party group complained that the trivia was to loud and they turned the speakers.  We couldn't hear and had already ordered our food, so moving around was to much trouble.  The group continued to be louder and louder.  I had already lost my temper with them, yet Steve was level headed and kept me in my seat.  I wish I had pictures to post on here of the whole group of @#$%%.  Any ways, let me try and stay on task.  We finished our food and even with a high score, it was to upsetting to struggle to hear over them, so we paid up and left.  Getting to the Lone Goose early enough not to miss a question :)
The night was much better as we did well in trivia there.  We came in 2nd Place which really cheered me up and they had me feeling a lot better about the night.  I think it was cool that the 3 of us showed up a whole table full that take the top 3 places each week.  Sure put a long lasting smile on my face.
I need to get some pictures soon from there.  They have real cool Art work!

Lack of time, several games rolled into ONE post

Well I know this is not like me, however, I have limited time over the past couple months and things seem to pile up.  As much as I hid things about how I feel, it really hit me hard when my friend Dale died.  I know that you guys don't know him, however, he was GREAT!

We played a couple of games at Las Trojas and missed a few games as well.  It's always good to see Lisa and Barbra when we are there.

On September 27th, we played at the Lone Goose Saloon where I ran into my friend Donnie and his friend.  Mike was out of town and Owen didn't make it due to some things he needed to attend too.  The Trivia there is hosted by Clay and he is pretty cool.  When the game started, we were still waiting to hear if any of our team would show up. So I ask Kent at the table next to us, who was also waiting for his team player if they would join us? He accepted and switched over to become the newest team member of the Romero's Rejects. His friend Jackie showed up a bit later and joined us as well. We hung in there pretty good and came in 5th place with only the 4 of us playing.  The winning teams were regular players there and had at least 7 to 9 on the team.  We had fun and met some new friends, so tonight was good.  See you all in October!

August 16, 2011

Tonight we had Kate, Mackenzie, and Drew all joining back in with us. We played the first 3 rounds by putting all our heads together and not missing a single answer! Way to go team!!! The Half Time question was: Name The Top 5 Most watched Television Series Finales of All Time?
We did well and only missed the 5th one, which I would never have guessed it to be that one. Think you know them? Write down your answer and click here to see if you were correct: http://www.top5ofanything.com/index.php?h=d1660fd6 Now let us all hope I did that right and it works so you can see the answers.
Moving right along to the rapid rounds. In round number 4, we missed the 1930 Disney animation called, Fiddlesticks. Myself, never heard of it before, however the guys seem to all recall it once it was mentioned. So you know I had to look it up and it looks pretty cool. http://www.veoh.com/watch/e91686rh9XdyEp?h1=Flip+The+Frog-Fiddlesticks+%7B1930%7D
I might have to start blogging with this playing, because it keeps your thoughts all running at full speed, at least it did mine :)
Well to end this night and let you all know, we didn't place due to betting 13 points on the Final Question and getting it wrong. We missed calculated how many we could bid and stay in the top 3 and over shot it by 4 points. At any rate, we had a BLAST!

August 9, 2011

Tonight was Owen, Mike, Steve and myself playing. The first question was cool because it was about Sponge Bob Square Pants. Who was his boss at the crab shack? For those of you who don't know it, I still like that series even today. Mr. Crabs is a real MONEY guy! Ok, on to the rest of tonight. The clues posted on Face Book weren't a lot of help, however the night went well. We had 42 points at half time. During rapid round 4 we did get a cool Super Hero question and it was Green Lantern. We ended the game with a 1st Place lead of 90 points! In 2nd place was the Senoritas with 75 points and 3rd place was Something fun and Creative with 59 points.
The phrase I heard tonight that stuck with me was "Jellin like a Felon" Not even sure I spelled that right at all. However if you read this blog, you probably remember it being said.

Well, got to run, it's time to review the next set of video footage and then maybe catch up some more on the blog :) Have fun everyone

August 1, 2011

We decided to play at Bridge Street tonight. I'm working tomorrow night on a case and can't play if we wait, so at any rate, we all met up and ordered our food. Glad we ordered early, because it took FOREVER for them to bring it out. Justin, Amoreena and Tru joined us there after trying to coax the cat for quite some time to come out of hiding. I'm hoping it's out and learned a lesson about hiding in deep, dark spaces. After all, you only get 9 lives when you're a cat!
We did alright with a score of 40 at half time. We scored a perfect 18 for rapid round 4 and only 10 points in the last round. Then it was time for the Final Question, which after much talking it over, we did get it right and had bet the max on it. So now where does that leave us? I've given you the information you need to keep up and I'm in one of those nutty moods that means I'm going to let you solve for the correct answer :) Good Luck

Here was the Winning Scores:
98 for 1st Place
97 for 2nd Place
89 for 3rd Place

Now any guess on the team names? Remember we were playing at the Smoke House on this night.

Enjoy and it was good to see our friend Stephanie again. Also found out that they are going to be starting trivia at Good Fellows in Cullman where the old Pizza Hut was. Anyone want to check it out?

July 28, 2011

Tonight on a last minute thought, Steve and I decided to get out and play some trivia.  Mostly we went out to relax and drink.  So we goofed off while playing trivia at Las Trojas.  We did actually get a sports question right and the Math question.  I loved the litature question tonight, mostly because I remember reading "Black Beauty" many years ago.  By half time, we were no where near being a winning team, so we didn't sweat it.
Half time scores were:
Angry Birds with 34
The A Team with 38
Vandelay Industries with 42  (This is a new group to the Trojas trivia)

We moved along very well in the Rapid rounds with a 15 on round 4 and a perfect 18 for round 5.  Now it was on to the Final Question of the night.  As she read the question, I knew that Steve recalled the event as he was telling me everything that went on, yet he couldn't think of the man's name no matter how hard he tried.  Since we hadn't placed by half time, we wrote the only thing there was to write on our paper and turned it in!

With that answer, we weren't thinking we would even place, so we were chatting and enjoying the end of trivia where all the teams are announced. When they called Romero's Rejects for 3rd place, we were so shocked that I totally missed who came in 2nd place and any of the score points! However, Vandelay Industries took 1st Place with the help of that little lady being held up in the picture above :)
So that is it for this night of trivia, OH wait, the correct answer was: Archbishop Tutu for the final Question of the night.
Sorry I can't remember the rest and I'm sure that the A Team was in there some where, as they were in 1st place going into the Final Question.  I'm just not sure how they did as to if they were the ones in 2nd or not.  Maybe someone else knows from that night?
See you all next time, or in this case, in a little while when I pull the notes to write the next weeks trivia results :)

July 26, 2011

Tonight we are getting some new team members. The newly married Pitts family:  Justin & Amoreena

and their daughter Tru

The rest of our team was here also:  Owen, Mike, Steve and myself.  It's going to be a lot tougher tonight, as there are 21 teams playing.  We are back to our Wonderful host Lisa and she is the SuperStar of the night doing all of the hosting alone.  Tonight was a lot of fun and we were mighty proud to have known what "Lolly Water" means in Australia.  Now that same word used in Thugville (DeKalb Co) will get you a  fruity flavoured pre-mixed vodka concoction. So sweet you can barely taste the alcohol content.  Anyways, back to the night in question :)
We scored a perfect 18 on both of the rapid rounds.  The Final question was to name the movies in 1939 and  1965 where clothes were made from curtains.  This one was enjoyable, as I have seen the Sound of Music over and over again.  IF there is anyone of you that hasn't seen it, take some time and watch it.  Having gotten the answer correct and bidding the max, This placed us in a Tie for 2nd place with "Numero Uno" Sorry my phone didn't catch the team member on the right.  If you guys send me the picture I took with your camera, I'll be happy to change out the pics :)
The tie breaking question was one of memory recall for our team.  As we play trivia in several places and I have tons of trivia games in the game room, we had this one in the bag.  There are 17 types of  penguins.
So our winners for tonight is:
Baby Monkey in 1st place
Romero's Rejects in 2nd.
Numero Uno in 3rd.
A very close game and yet so much fun.  I'm still waiting for the Trekkie questions that we never get.  Oh well, maybe next week :)

July 19, 2011

Tonight is a regular 4 players: Mike, Owen, Steve & Myself.  We have a couple of new Hosts for tonights game.  This is Michael & Charity
They started hosting last week while I was enjoying a vacation out west.  We have 11 teams playing tonight.

In the very first round was the hard question of "What does a Ornithologist study"  I had no idea, however the guys on the team thought it out and we went with Birds.  Here is the definition for those of you who want to know:  Ornithology is a branch of zoology that concerns the study of birds.
Now you all know why I'm so proud of these guys!  Not to mention, they are some cool friends to hang out with. :)

We breezed on through getting all 10 points at half time and doing pretty good in the Rapid rounds. But alas, when it came down to the FINAL question, we bet it all and Lost.  It sure didn't stop us from having a great night and enjoying a lot of laughs.

The winners for 1st place tonight was:  Baby Monkey's
I'ld love to tell you who was in 2nd and 3rd place, however my notes don't contain it and so I'm at a loss.  So that completes this weeks blog and now I must move on to the next weeks events.

Answer to July's trivia poll

In mythology, on which Greek Island did Sappho write poems for her female admirers?

Answer: Sappho's poetry centers on passion and love for various personages and both genders. The word lesbian derives from the name of the island of her birth, Lesbos.

I think for the August poll I'm going to change it around some.  To see how it works, I'm going to post a trial one for this week.

July 5, 2011

Well it's 4am and I'm not sure I should be allowed to write at the moment.  However, I'm awake so I might as well get a few things done.

14 teams playing.  On our team tonight is:  Mike, Owen, Steve and myself.

We started out with knowing the song, but I couldn't remember who it was done by.  So here it is: Give Me Everything ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer  http://youtu.be/EPo5wWmKEaI  (Caution to those who don't like rap)

By half time we were only up to 24 points having blown round 3 totally.  So tonight was not shaping up at all like we wanted.  On a good note, the drinks were half gone and everyone was having a good time.

We gained some points by knowing this Classic Cartoon:

Then took on rapid round 5 with a perfect score! In the Final Question, we decided to bet it all and dropped out of the winning.  Your winners are:

3rd:  Fearsom foursom
2nd:  Baby Monkey
1st:  Wild Stalion

The next week no one played, as it was a trip to Vegas, Grand Canyon, Area 51 and the Hoover Dam.  (Pictures to be posted on Google+ for that event)

June 30, 2011

A few of us all got together for a movie and then decided to go play trivia at Las Trojas.  Zack is our host and there are 10 teams playing.  Our team tonight is made up of Mike, Steve, myself and Amanda.
We started out only getting the 6 point questions correct on the first 2 rounds and were thinking we was really in a slump. However, that started to turn around in the 3rd round and we started pulling back into the game some.  At half time we were all the way down in 6th place and not feeling good about a win.  We were still having fun and the company was great, so we continued on.  Rapid round 4 proved to be our best pull yet of the night, scoring a full set of points.  This boosted our pride a bit, who knew we could know so much about the theme Japan!  Now we are on to the last rapid round where the theme was 50/50.  We did pretty good here and had moved into 4th place for the final question.  The category was Art and the question proved to be a win for us.  We bid the max and waited for the final scores....while we finished up our drinks.

Owen couldn't be here tonight, as he is team leader over at Rugby's bar on Thursday's.  His team there is known as "Gump's Geeks" and a powerful team they are from my hearing of the 3 straight wins in 1st place!  Way to go over there.  You are missed here when we play on Thursdays, but we understand :)

Now back to the winners, We pulled off a 3rd place win tonight!  With "The Pacer's" taking 2nd and the 1st Place team was "The Clemson Tigers".  After the game, we met the Pacer's and learned about how they came up with there name.

That's it for now folks, glad you took the time to read and since we NEVER get any Star Trek trivia, I'm going to leave you with a joke.

An oldie, but goodie as they say:

What does a Romulan frog use for camouflage?

-A croaking device.

June 27, 2011

Well here it is over a month later and the blog has been neglected.  What happened to my friends posting like I ask?  Really guys, it's not that hard to do.  Ok, I'm going to catch everyone up on the recent events and the fun we have all been having.  Now lets all go back in time to the night of

May 17th:   Nicole played her very last ever High School Band Concert.  She did GREAT and I'm glad I didn't miss out on all the fun our team was having winning 1st Place for us!  Way to go guys!

May 24th:  The guys played at Las Trojas, I don't think we won on this night.

May 27th:  I know this isn't a normal thing to have in this blog, however, it's important to me...Nicole Graduated and now my job is complete...at least most of it.  I know some of you don't believe like me and it's okay, I love you guys anyways :)

May 30th:  Steve drove up to Arab to see the Henry Cho concert with all of us out here.  Talk about fun, I did miss the Trivia playing.  The concert was for a good cause, it went to benefit the Tornado Relief in this area.  Take a look into one of his shows: http://youtu.be/U7_3xxQXgFs

June 6th:  Made it back to Trivia at Las Trojas.  It's me, Steve, Mike & Owen.  We got all the half time question right and named the 5 Zoo's, however it wasn't enough to bring in the Win.  So tonight's winners were:  3rd place: "In 1st Place" with 70 something points and yes, that's their team name!
2nd Place: Orange Poke-a-dots with 88 points.  And 1st place went to a new team tonight:  Baby Monkey's with 90 points.

June 14th:  It's our famous 4 playing again.  We started out with a perfect score and by half time we were in the running.  In all my notes, the only thing that really stands out is the "flash point" which was really "Fire Point" I think.  No matter, we missed it.  So it was a little set back.  We hung in there and kept going to pull off a 1st Place win!!!  Followed closely by "Baby Monkey" and "Insert Name Here".  So there you have it, another win for the team!

June 20th:  We all decided to head over to the Smoke House at Bridge Street to give it a try over there.  Tonight was again our 4 main team members.  Lisa and Barbra were our Hosts and a fine team they are!  We started off strong and held the momentum with one question after another!  10 teams are playing for only 3 prizes and it's going well.  We made it all the way to the final Question on Islands and we bet the top 20 points, giving us the Grand Total of 97 points for what we thought would surely be the win....It's a Tie!  So now we gear up our brains while Mike & Owen run numbers and we all toss them back and forth to come up with our answer for this question:  How many glasses of Milk does 1 cow produce in a life time?

BTW, the other team we were competing with is "Paradox", pictured here.

I'm going to have to come back to that story soon.  It's time to move on to the next week now :)

Only kidding, here is the fact answer:  The average dairy cow produces 22.5 quarts (60lbs) or 90 glasses of milk a day, 1,500 gallons or 16,000 glasses of milk a year, and 18,750 gallons or 200,000 glasses of milk in a lifetime.  Our guess was a bit off, but we were the closest team to it, so we Won!
With all the stress related to having to really work to win, I missed who took 3rd place!  I know that we won 1st Place and that made my night almost as bright as the sun that was blinding me at the beginning of the game!

Now where was I?  I started reliving the moment and got all hyped up.  Oh yes, I was up to the very next night.  Plan A was that I would be working, that didn't pan out right, so we ended up going to Las Trojas for Trivia...How dare we!

June 21st:  Our team tonight is, Steve, myself, Amanda, Ethan & Jessica (pictured above).  This is the first time that Ethan or his mom have joined us.  We started off doing pretty good, mostly we spent a lot of time talking with each other and getting to know the 2 new peeps on the team.  After that, we tanked the Rapid round 5 and feel out of the winnings.  It was ok, after all, we have to share so the other teams keep coming back to play :)
The winning teams were:  3rd: "Doesn't matter to me"  2nd: Bad Idea and 1st Place went to: "Baby Monkey".  We are starting to see a lot of this new team.  Might be time to introduce ourselves and get to know them.

June 27th:  I'm almost embarrassed to even right that I killed the team by being so sure of the first answer and risking the max!  I was WRONG and lesson learned!  It was great to have Kate back with us tonight.

We played on trying to recover from the hole I put in the boat, however, it was just not happening for us tonight.  I was so far off my game tonight that I don't even know who won 1st place!  I know the "Pacers" were in the running and "Slow Motion".  I want to say that "Amber Sand" was the top winners, but don't hold me to it!  We ended the game with this question on Anatomy, "what is the Glabella"  Go ahead, look it up, trivia is over any ways!
Great to see Stephine back with us again tonight.  Looking good girl :) Take that trip, those kids will be fine!

Until next time....

May 10, 2011

Last week we didn't have any trivia at Las Trojas.  Due to all the damage from the many tornado's and the power outage all week.  I have thought about posting some of the pictures, however it just doesn't seem like something I want to add on here.  Most of us have viewed the damage enough.  If you ever want to see it, just go on YouTube and search "Alabama tornado 2011"  There are tons of them on there.  Warning:  some of them are stressful, so don't say I didn't warn you!

Now on to this weeks trivia.  Tonight it was only the famous 4 of us playing and taking on the other teams.  There was Owen, Mike, Steve and myself.  We were all there and seated by roughly 6:45pm.  We saw the speakers all set up and then noticed that our friends who host the game were not around.  So we waited a while and decided about 7:15 that trivia must be off for the night.  Owen had a back up game of Trivia cards in his car which he went out and brought in for us to play.  By the time we had our drinks and placed our food order, we were ready to play.  Steve suggested that we hijack the mic and play our own version of Live trivia.  In looking back I can see how much fun that would have been talking about that night forever.  Don't worry, we didn't try it, mostly because the rest of us didn't have as good a drink as Steve had :-)   I'm thinking now that we should have done it anyways.  Maybe next time I will be brave enough to back up the idea.  So Steve, don't give up on the rest of us for being a little chicken to jump in on the idea.
Well about 7:30ish, the trivia music began to play and we all were surprised that we were going to have a host after all and it was GAME ON!  So we put aside our trivia card game and were ready to rock and roll.

We started out missing every one of the 2 point questions in the first 3 rounds, but if you have to miss one, that's it!  At the half time we were in the lead with 36 points.  Rapid round 4 didn't go as well as we hoped it would with us only gaining 10 points of the 18 possible.  So we had to try harder in the last round.  We did good and it was time for the Final question of the night.  OH wait, it was good until we hear that we somehow dropped to 5th place and the score doesn't match what we have...this will never do.  We all quickly go over the sheet again and then again....Nope, it's got to be a mistake, so as I had in the answer to the final question, I ask the hosts to help me sort it all out.  Much to our happy smiles, we are back in the lead with 61 points.  Now we wait to see if we get to hold the title of 1st place again this week....The final Question of the night was one that the guys knew without a doubt and we bet the max.  Bringing our score to a grand total of 81 points and the winning championship victory again this week!

I'm sorry to say that with all the celebrating, I missed the final score for 2nd place and the teams name, so if anyone remembers, post it for us in the comments please.
3rd place went to a team from Boeing...The Water Buffalo's
Our new Host Mike brought us the winnings and I gladly accepted for a chance with a picture for our blog.  Yeah, I know, I'm a nut, but what did you really expect?
For our friends who are working tonight.... WE miss you guys!!!!!!!!!!  Now next week, I have a band concert to attend for my oldest, so some of you have to take notes and do the blog for us all.....don't let me down guys.

PS...Don't forget to vote before tomorrow on the blogs trivia question.  Now I'm off here to shower and head down to the AL Spy Shop and hang out with Brett & Tim...stop by and see me....PLEASE

Answer to the last poll that was posted:

At long last, the correct answer to the trivia poll that has been on the blog since I think March.

The world's first Electric Trolley System was introduced in Montgomery in which year?

The answer is:  The world's first Electric Trolley System was introduced in Montgomery in 1886.

Information courtsy of:  http://www.50states.com/

I will try and update this a little better in the future.  I think some of the team members are going to  have to learn to blog some!

Ending April Trivia, see you in May

April 19th:
We started off doing alright tonight, even if I didn't know that the lowest prime number is 2....I thought 1 went into everything!  Oh well.  On tonights team is:  Drew, Mackenzie, Owen, Mike, Steve and myself.
The team "Regular Girls" was holding a perfect score all the way up to the Rapid Rounds, some where in there, they lost out.
For some reason, I don't know how many teams were playing  tonight. However I do know we were all enjoying the compitition of some friendly teams. Our team was holding on all the way to Rapid round number 5 when the following happened:

Since the rules are "Wheither I'm wrong or right, I'm always right" for the Host of trivia, we lost one of the questions on Deserts that could have put us in a tie for 3rd place.  However in the defence of the Host, he was going by a printout.  Speaking of Hosts, As I understand it, our host tonight was the Owner of http://www.brainblasttrivia.com/.  So  there you have it folks...He does work. (He is the only guy in the picture) sorry, didn't get one of just him.

We will be back again next week to win some more Las Trojas certificates.
Oh, the winning teams tonight were:
3rd Place:    Mombo #5
2nd Place:    Bad Idea
1st Place:  Unknowns
It was real close on tonights game, with the 1st place team only 2 points in the lead.  Congrats to all the teams.  See you next week!

April 26th:

We have the same team members as last week tonight...so we are all geared up and ready to win!
Tonight for the first time EVER we scored a perfect 10 on the half time question!!!!  We could name all 6 of the places in the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ChADh1zt5I ....Great song by the way.  (yes, you have to click the link to know the song and who it's by :)

We have 13 teams playing tonight and our Hosts are the wonderful Lisa and Barbra who have been doing this for a while now.

Tug of war is one of the oldest games of team strength still played at school field days.  I've always been a BIG fan of this game.  Mostly because it requires everyone on the team to put all their efforts in to win.
To my surprise the guys all knew this one:
The Simpsons has been dropped from morning TV in Venezuela after being deemed unsuitable for children - and has been replaced by Baywatch.  LIKE I want my children watching baywatch...NOT.
Sorry, personal view expressed on that one ;)  as if this whole blog doesn't have personal view all over it...LOL.
Now, back to the real reason you are reading this....TRIVIA
the Final Question in tonights game was to name the 5 Beaches on the D-Day Invasion from West to East:
The correct answer is: Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, Gold Beach, Sword Beach, and Juno Beach
And you know we took 1st Place tonight....oh yeah!

Tonights winning teams were:

3rd place:  Baby Monkey with 90 points
2nd place:  Hot & Spicy with 92 points
1st place: yours truely....ROMERO'S REJECTS!!!! with 93 points

Yeah, I know it was only by 1 point, but thats all it takes, right?  See you all next time...MUAH

7 weeks of Recaps, Oh no I didn't wait this long to do this....oooopppsss

Well I best get started so that I can get on my to do list for today also.

First let me start by saying that I have NO excuse for not blogging.  I got my PI license in March and opened DragonFly Investigations.  Enrolled in Dective Training school.  Started volunteering at the Al Spy Shop in Madison to learn equipment and PI work from Bret and Tim.  Still doing my Arbonne route and working for The Poolman.  So forgive me if I don't always get my blogs done :)

March 1st:  Tonight we all got to meet Nick's mom Reny.  I sure hope I spelled her name correct.  She was really nice and I wish I had gotten a picture!  I can't believe that I didn't, yet somehow I'm sure it's going to be okay.  Patrick saved our team by getting us the first time ever 10 points on the Half Time Sport question!!!  There were 18 teams playing, not sure how many by the end of the game.  I know a couple teams left before it was over.  Not that I mind, it gave us all a better chance.  The trivia question for tonight is:  What is the Last Shot of the Day called?  OK, everyone can put your comments in for the answer.

March 8th:  Tonights compitation was 14 teams playing with many of those being teams of 6 or more.  I think I did see a table or 2 with about 3 or 4 players.  It's hard to keep track sometimes of all the teams.  Tonights winners were 3 teams that I don't recall ever seeing play here.  It could be that they play on a different night, sometime we switch up too.  The one thing I can recall very well is wishing I knew the answer to What is a vexillologist?   Well for those of you who don't know, It's the study and collection of information about FLAGS.  With that, I'm moving on to next weeks trivia.

March 15th:  Tonight the only ones that showed up for Trivia was myself and Steve...what happened to our crew...oh yeah, Mike was enjoying some much needed time with his Mom.  Kate got herself a new job...congrats, can't remember why Owen was withholding his knowledge and I wasn't sure I could make it until the last minute.  Infact,  I remember Lisa (the trivia lady) saying how she thought we were going to be a no show.  I can tell you from my notes that we scored a 0 in rapid round 4 and turned around and kicked butt in round 5.  All that looks like a good thing, but when you look at us betting it all on the Final question and getting it wrong, we didn't do so hot...but we sure had fun playing.  The winning teams tonight were:
ATO in 1st place
Adonas DNA in a close 2nd
Tez pulled a 3rd place win over the Assassins
So take note of this one...the next time someone ask you a question about Chewing gum, crayons & Beer....listen to the men/man in the group!

OH and one more cool thing, the team across from us got called down for cheating with cell phones.  We didn't bother to "tattle",  all it took was a 2nd Margaretta and Steve spoke up.  I think what I enjoyed most was the drunk guy at there table that couldn't shut up about how they won 1st place once and were all using their phones!  So after our little busting, they finished their food and left the building.  Leaving room for some honest trivia players.  THANKS STEVE!

March 22nd:  Shannon became our newest Reject tonight.

It's about time Owen decided to bring us some help. We started off strong without missing a question thru the first 3 rounds.  Then they hit us with the Half Time question of March Madness....we are NOT sports people...at least not basketball anyways.  Oh well, we hung in there with the Rapid Rounds and beat 13 other teams out of the running.  Now with all that said, we didn't win tongiht, as there were 18 teams playing, you get to do your own math on this one.  Have fun while I finish writing...LOL

March 29th:  Tonights team was:  Myself, Steve, Mike, Kate, Nick, Owen, Shannon.
We took 2nd place in a heated battle for 1st.  We were only 2 points behind "Debra's Team".  It was that darn question of Names that kept us from the top.  We sure had fun and they kept the sports questions down a little tonight. I think if it's sports, it should be BAMA football....yeah, I said it!

April 5th:  Tonight was an event for Amanda and her new school for the fall.  She was so excited going to pick up all the information and then came home and went right to bed in tears.  When I went in to talk with her, it turns out she thought she had to plan the next 4 years of her life all in a weeks time.  After our talk, she was calm enough to get some rest.

April 12th:  Tonight was a bit of excitement as the Team Dynamic Duo was caught cheating and BUSTED...Nicely I might add.  It's one thing to play, but another entirely to cheat to win.  There are several teams that play weekly like us (Bad Idea, The Unknowns, The A team)  I'm sure there are some more teams that I can't remember at the moment.  However, we all like a good and fair game of trivia.  I hope this was a lesson to any other teams out there cheating.  Now on to the fun stuff of the night.

We all got to meet our newest member of the Romero's Rejects team....Drew.  He did good helping out and we look forward to having him back again tonight.

Our team members present tonight were: Myself, Steve, Mike, Owen, Shannon, Kenzie, Drew.

To all our surprise, the winner in tonights game was "Bomb Shells"  They weren't even in the top 6 teams and out of the night sky they took over with the final trivia answer.

We did get to meet a new team tonight, they took 3rd place with 67 points as "ChipCrane".  We expect to see them back again also.

Update on the Scale Back Alabama Romero's Rejects team....Donnie did GREAT by losing 15 pounds!  Our team didn't win the challenge, however, the weight lost was good.  I'm still planning to lose some more over the next month or so.  After all, I can't wear a string bikini with this current womans body.... wonder where I can get a younger modle to try out for the summer months ;-)

Well that is farewell until I see you all tonight....BTW,  tonight we must all decide a good PARTY date to spend our winnings.  And that means winning 1st place tonight!  See you in a few hours, I'm on my way to the cool Al Spy Shop  in Madison.  Drop by and say HI

February 22nd Trivia was Bitter Sweet

Last weeks Trivia was GREAT in that we took 1st place!  We were missing almost the whole team due to our Sweetheart Mike having surgery.  He did text us during trivia to let us know that he was doing alright and wished us luck.  It's going to be different not having him there for a couple of times, but he in NO WAY is getting out of the team!  So hurry back Mike!  BTW....Stephine ask about you too, so she missed you as well.

Owen and Steve really knocked out some tough computation this week.  Winning against 9 other teams wasn't easy.  We had the smallest team with only the 3 of us and the largest team having over 11 team members playing...wow, they were tough too.  Too bad they didn't know the final 20 point question that could have saved their butts!  I'm glad they didn't know, because I really wanted to win 1st place and show them we could still BRING IT!  I guess that's the high competitiveness in me...hey, it could be worse, right?

Well it's time to get out the door and make my deliveries so that I'm not late to Trivia tonight...See you all there.

Hugs to Mike and let me know who all is going to be there tonight so that we can get a table early.  I'm starving!

Best Guess for 1968 Trivia Prize

We played a simple game of "who gets the closest to our total score".  This was the first time to play this game and we did it in connection with the live trivia.  It was cool having Sherri join us this time, I'm sure she will be back again as soon as time allows.

Ok, I'll not keep you all waiting, the winner in tonights "guessing game" was our very own......OWEN!

So tonight we are going to play for yet another deck of Trivia cards, this time is's a 1958 deck, a little more rare than the 68 from last week.  Can't wait to see who all shows up for the team game!  The game changes each week, so bring your thinking caps!!!

Congrats Owen on WINNING!

2nd Place Winners or 1st Place Losers?

Last nights trivia was pretty fun. We managed to make it to the restaurant on time despite major gridlock fueled by road construction, a car that was on fire, and a fender bender hampering our path.
We had our regular gang of misfits there slurping on Margaritas and what not.
Our good friend Sherri was passing through the neighbor hood and stopped by to add her wisdom to the pool.
After a shaky start we did manage to pull out a 2nd place victory, or as the more practical description would be: we lost in 1st place.
Sherri's insistence on answering a question which the answer was Charlies Angles was enough to place us in the silver.
We hope she can make more of the trivia nights.
Your humble writer failed to really do much for the team this time, other than gracing everyone with his presence and sparkling wit, that is. ::cough::
Again it was a great time and I'm looking forward to next week.

Sherri holding the check for 2nd place.

A. Denmark
B. Italy
C. England
D. America

Answer:  Denmark

Another little Valentine's Day Information to share:

In America, young ladies would write their names on slips of paper and at a Valentine's Day party young men would draw names. A young man would wear the name of his lady on his sleeve for days to claim her as his valentine, originating the saying "wearing your heart on your sleeve."

Thanks to each of you for playing Valentine's Trivia.  You can find these answers and more Valentine's Quiz fun at http://www.buzzle.com/

The Rejects take on 15 teams

Last Tuesday's Trivia was loaded with lots of teams all playing for the top 3 prizes.  Proudly, we took home the 2nd place prize.
Kate and Mike accepted the win.  The  rejects brought some good skills and Owen pulled off the Math question tonight.  So it's a good night for us all.

1st Place went to one of the team rivals "Big Oil".  Now lets see if they can hold on to that title next week as we bring home some big money!

For the "Scale Back Alabama",  We have 7 more weeks left guys and it's time to get serious on those goals.  Forgiveness granted for tonight's Valentine's meal ;)

Have fun and see you all tomorrow night for a new surprise on Trivia!

Thanks for playing online :-)

Newest member of the Team

We would all like to welcome Owen as our newest member.  This was his first time joining us, however he has commited to being here more and the next Math quiz is all his.

We finished with a team score of 60, which isn't bad for a team that started the night off missing the first 2 questions of the night.  The Magnific 7 took 1st place and we have challenged them to defend that title next Tuesday Night.  BRING IT ON!

FYI for tonight is:    Whose voice says "You've got mail" on AOL?    Elwood Edwards
Edwards - a friend of an AOL employee - recorded the "Welcome," "File's Done," "Goodbye," and  "You've Got Mail".
Edwards remained mostly unknown until Wired Magazine - in their forum on AOL - revealed his identity in 1995.

Attendees tonight were: Myself, Steve, Owen, Mike, Kate, Tyler and Mackenzie

January 27, 2011

We had a outstanding time tonight on the Patio of Las Trojas.  There were 14 teams to compete with and most of them were large teams.  The winner tonight was "The Compounds" with the most points we have seen taken in any game.  A whopping 100 points!  Our Host tonight was Zack.  He took a much better picture with his iPhone4.  I need to try and get it again later.  My phone didn't store it for some crazy reason.
Nick and Kate joined in on some dancing.  I hope Kate will let us know the name of the dance and we should be hearing more from her on here.

Below is our Team with only a few members missing.  I can't wait to see everyone Tuesday night!

Left to Right: Nick, Kate, Mike, Steve, Sandy, Mackenzie, and Tyler.

As a little Bonus,  Who is the current Prime Minister of England?

Don't forget to vote on the candy quiz before the answer is revealed on Wednesday.

Thursday Night Trivia

Well it looks like this week will need to be Thursday night trivia for myself.  Sorry I can't make it tonight.  D2 has a project due in the morning and needs help getting it all worked out.

I owe Steve a great big THANKS for all his help with "Colossus of Rhodes" statue.

I'll see you all on Thursday night at 6:30 for a WINNING night of Trivia.

1st Game of the Year

I thought it only fitting that we have a DragonFly on our side ;-)

We have had lots of fun playing and as "Returning Champions" a good watermark sure felt right.

It's probably a chic thing, but the guys are nice about it and I love it.
Steve & Mike with Stephine the Trivia Host.  This was her first time to Host and she was a bit nervous, however she did a very good job.

We sure had an Amazing time and I'm already excited to see how well we do next time.

Sometimes it's not only What you know, also Who you know.  Best of both worlds on our team.

See you all next week.

Bringing Home the Bronze

Last night only the 3 core members of Romero's Rejects attended the trivia contest at Las Trojas.
We lost much of our spirit and momentum right off the bat by betting the max on the first question and getting it wrong. (how many *@#$% football shape head cartoon characters are their anyway?)
We got our first goose egg on one of the rounds and that didn't help either.
However the final question was worth 20 points and we bet it all and got it right. Judging from the other teams response not many of them did.
All the teams that were in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place were knocked out and we were able to capture 3rd.
Hey, it ain't 1st but it is much better than what we were expecting.
The Rejects have now won all three places since we started playing.
Looking forward to next week!

Playing Live Trivia

The very first time we ever played, we came up with the name "Romero's Rejects" and decided to keep it as returning players.  Sometimes we have as few as 2 players on the team that shows up, but up to 8 have played on the team in one night before.  I enjoy the social time and getting to meet new people, it's fun for me.  The highest score possible per game is 102 points.  So far this hasn't been done during any of the nights our team has played.  We have took 1st & 2nd place at different times.  Winning is a lot of fun, however I find the most fun in hanging out with friends and playing.

Trivia is played at different locations and times, here are a couple places we have played.

Las Trojas over on hwy 53  (Tuesday & Thursday @ 7:00)
Mellow Mushroom 470 Providence Main St, (Tuesday @ 8:00)

Enjoy the game and see you ALL on Trivia Night!
