Playing Brainblast trivia makes for a very good time. It gets you out of the house for a couple of hours to socialize with friends and if you have the right team mates, win some cool prizes.
For about an hour and a half, you are cut off from your cell phone so you don't have to worry about texts, incoming calls, and voice mails. Where we normally play, Las Trojas in Rocket City USA, known to many as Huntsville Alabama, we can enjoy a fine dinner and awesome drinks while we deliver the red a$$ to the opposing teams.
Our team has morphed over the last year or so we have been playing to include some awesome vessels of useless facts. Useless except when you are kicking butt at a Brainblast event that is.
If you are still working on building your team you should consider these simple tips.
First of all, it may seem like a great idea to have a bus load of people on your team. We have tried this a few times, and it does expand your knowledge base somewhat. Unfortunately though, it also makes for more distractions as people way down on the other end of the table can't hear what is being said on the other end. Obviously while debating the answer you need to whisper or talk in a low tone as to not help out the opposition.
There is also the problem of trying to divide up the winnings.
Our team captain. Sandy. came up with a good and fair way to do this, but it makes it much more difficult on large teams.
While we welcome anyone who would like to join us at anytime, we have pretty much decided that a mega size team isn't the best way to go.
What you need among your team mates is a couple of nerd fanboys. They seem to know trivia on movies and television shows pretty well.
Someone like Sandy, who I just mentioned, is a retired daycare provider and seems to have a good knowledge of children shows and music from her years in that (what would have to be, Hellish) job. She is now a private investigator and brings in a vast array of info from that field.
We have a couple of engineers that play regularly with us, and of course that helps. They both are quite the history buffs and that is a tremendous asset.
One of our occasional team players, Bill, is very knowledgeable on musicals. Both Broadway and big screen. As disturbing as this fact was for all of us to find out, it has paid off on more than one occasion.
I am one of the fanboys I mentioned above. While I myself can not offer to much, their has been a time or two that a movie quote or Star Trek fact or something that only I knew the answer to was asked, and I was able to contribute to a number one victory.
We have lucked out by having one team member who is truly the anchor of our team. Our teams Michael Jordan or Cam Newton. His trivial knowledge, er, knowledge of trivia is outstanding and he is always fun to hang with, win or lose. He knows who he is.
All of teams players are perfect for what we need. It makes for a great team experience.
The key to a winning team is diversity. You can never really pin down which direction Brainblast may be going that week, so your information sources should be from many fields.
Remember, the main thing is to have fun, and while losing is obviously not as much fun as winning, it is better than not playing at all.
Next time you find yourself in North Huntsville on a Tuesday night, drop by Las Trojas. Chances are we will be there. Go against us if you dare, or join us for the evening. It will be a blast.

Trivial Knowledge OR Knowledge of Triva
Thursday, April 26, 2012
April 24, 2012
We are all back at Las Trojas again tonight. We have most of our crew all together, except our anchor Mr. Owen. So for the record, we have: Steve, Mike, Justin, Amoreena, Tru and myself. There are only 9 teams playing, which is very odd for a Tuesday night.Round 1 was a perfect score, however it was for all the other teams as well. We moved into Round 2 and were getting them all correct until we reached the sports question. Justin seemed to know all about the guy, yet couldn't come up with his name in time for the answer to be turned in. Bobby Valentine was the answer to the Red Sox question. I'm sure you all know who he is and his job title.
Round 3 would have been the perfect score again, yet we mixed up our North and South on the answer, so as you all know, it doesn't count if you know it and don't write it down correctly.
The Half Time question was a really cool one and I'm so happy to see them branching out. It was on Vampires! We only missed one of these and we had so much fun with all of us getting the different era. I have to say, this half time question was one of the best ones yet! I can't wait until they do one on Star Trek or Space Movies...etc.
Ok, back to the game, Rapid round 4 is a perfect score with Mike having read "Kite Runner"
then in Rapid Round 5 we were so sure of the correct answer for Presidents that we bid the highest on it, of course we didn't get that correct and it was a bit of a set back. Having heard the question again, we knew how we messed up. Now that puts us in a close place with the other teams. We know that for the Final Question of History, we are going to have to out bid the other teams. With the question read, the guys know the answer and take it up right away. This giving us the lead to pull off a win tonight. At the end of the game, we are pleased with our progress and waiting on the other teams.
3rd place goes to "The Hard rollers" with 72 points
2nd place to "Jump the Shark" with 75 points
and as you all know by now, we owned the game tonight with a total of 82 points and the 1st Place prize....ROMERO'S REJECTS!
That's it for now. We are thinking of playing tonight out at Tommy's again. That would be if I can get off work in time. Getting there at 6:00 makes it a bit difficult for me. I'm hoping soon it will be at least 6:30. Well, I best get going and say Hi to all my FB friends who have been missing me. I need to get this pool open for the summer season. Have fun everyone and enjoy the sunshine.
April 19, 2012 Tommy's Pizza
Tonight our team is Steve, Billy and myself. We decided to help raise some awareness for the newest trivia location in Huntsville. This is cool being close to home for me :) We arrived early to find the good seats. We found the sun was a factor in where we wanted to sit for the evening. The Pizza was amazingly good and there were 5 teams present to play. This is pretty good for starting up and I'm sure next week there will be more teams. OK, on to the game!
Round 1 we started off with the State Capital of North Dakota, having spent a week there with the Army National Guard for 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It was a blast and that's what made me remember the answer as Bismarck.
Round 2 was fun with the music question from AC/DC releasing which album in July 1980 that would be the "Back in Black" album!
Round 3 cost us a 4 point answer because we thought we knew the President answer that we clearly did NOT know. However after having the answer read, we committed it to memory.
Now the half time question was about the 5 top oil producing States. I'll give you the top 3 and you figure out the last 2 on your own. Alaska, Texas and North Dakota and that leaves?______________ and ________________.
We are now in 1st place with 32 points
Rapid Round 4 and 5 did us NO good at all. For the first time in the history of Trivia, we all drew a blank, even on answers that should have been common sense. So in just 2 rounds, we went from first place to not even in the running. However we did have lots of fun and the pizza was a nice change from our normal meals. I must say that I'm looking forward to playing here again soon. We also were able to hang out with Tommy (the owner) for a little bit. He was telling us all about his plans for the patio garden. Now that is going to really make me want to be here playing trivia. Next all we need is beer specials like they have at Las Trojas and it's a date! I know what you are thinking, she doesn't drink beer...No I don't, however my buddies all do and they swear nothing goes with pizza like a good cold beer. So we shall see what becomes of it all.
Oh, I should get back to the winners of tonights game. From the scores just before the final question, we know that only the Dumbledore's Army was certain of their answer. Either that or they are a go for broke theory team. Since this is our first time to play any of these teams, we will have to learn how they function in order to use it for the Final Question bidding.
in 3rd place with 54 points was the Fighting Mongooses
2nd Place with 63 points "Maximum Velocity Brotherhoods"
Tonights 1st place team was, as you already know from this blog, "Bumbledore's Army" with 81 points! A BIG win for them tonight.
That brings us to the end of this game and now only one more before I am completely caught up on this blog. See you all again soon.

April 17, 2012
Several of our team is busy tonight, so it's Mike, Steve and myself.Round 1 started off easy enough with the cool movie WALL-E.

The only plus side to that round was us knowing all about the current event that is so near and dear to NASA and the Huntsville/Rocket city. That would be Space Shuttle Discovery
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/main/index.html
Rapid round 4 we gained all 18 points possible and then in Rapid Round 5 we picked up another 10 points. With the Final Question, we knew our President question and bid the max. Our team ended up with 62 for a good comeback. However we were short in reaching our goal. The winning teams are:
3rd Place with 72 points "Bad Idea"
2nd Place with 73 points "A Team"
1st Place with 78 points again this week, the "Clemson Tigers"
Quick Update and the April 10, 2012 Game
March 27th was done earlier by SpaceTrucker Steve. I also didn't make the April 3rd trivia night due to working, however I know that the Romero's Rejects took 1st Place. I'm Proud of the team. It was Mike, Steve, and Owen who pulled off this win alone! Way to go guys!
April 10th
Tonight was Mike, Owen, Jim and myself. It was a pleasure to have Jim join our team. We will be competing against 15 other teams.
We started off with missing the Pokemon questions. The correct answer was Pikachu. I should have known this one, as my girls have a gold plated card in a case from when it was first released. Sad that I forgot about his name.
We did know the creator of Family Guy. We moved into round 2 gaining another 10 points for our team. In round 3, well let's not even talk about round 3, it was as if the lights went out for us in the sports and Movie questions. We all knew that Steve would know the movie question with ease, yet he was off in CA enjoying the sunshine...he is missed!
Half time was all about Music. It started off easy with Bad romance and Jim knew the next one was Brick House...way to go Jim, I had no idea on that one.
We gained another 25 points in the next 2 rapid rounds. Now we all know it's down to the Final Question of the night. It's Historic Event and I would love to tell you what the question was, however I can't remember it and it is only notes here. I do know the answer has something to do with this: http://csep10.phys.utk.edu/astr161/lect/comets/halley.html
Even with the correct answer, we didn't place tonight. However there was a tie for 2nd and 3rd place between Bad Idea and Team Awesome. Since we weren't in the tie breaker, I didn't really think of the question, however I do know that the answer was 1936 and that was the exact answer given by Team Awesome with Bad Idea guessing 1940. Does anyone out there remember the question?
Tonights winning teams are:
84 points and in 1st place "Clemson Tigers"
82 points and because of the correct year in the tie breaker, "Team Awesome"
82 points for 3rd place is Bad Idea.
Congrats to the teams and I hope everyone had as much fun as we have!

March 20, 2012
We had a good size team playing tonight with a new member Brian and our very own: Owen, Mike, Steve, Tru, Justin, Amoreena and myself.
We started off with a perfect round, I mean how could we not with the questions relating to "The Green Lantern"
Round 2 we were reminded of this groups song lyrics: http://youtube/qeMFqkcPYcg
Round 3 was another perfect score for us. Given that we knew the Bible and States pretty good.
Moving into half time was the collective nouns, do you know these?
Bison = Herd
Spiders =
Elk =
Owls =
Coyotes =
I did the first one for you, now fill in the rest.
Rapid round 4 is about 90's Style, this one we owned, as every one of us can remember the 90's very well. Not that I'm saying anything about age here.
Rapid round 5 was a fairly easy score for us, given that we changed our minds at the last moment and agreed with Owen on the Star question, Glad we did, he was right!
That brings our team to a total of 74 points for the final question. So we listen to the other teams scores and figure we only need 12 points on the bid to win 1st place. The category is "Bodies of Water" when the question is read, we feel sure of our answer but not 100%, so we go with a 12 point bid. To our surprise, we had not heard one of the teams scores correctly and they beat us by 1 point! Now let me tell you how important that 1 point was...oh never mind, if you have read this much of the blog, YOU already know it was a Game Changer!
However we are happy with winning and will drink less until after the game next time. We had a blast and I'm excited to have been a part of the fun.
1st place went to "the Knights"
2nd place to yours truly "Romero's Rejects"
3rd place to "More Cheese Please"
BTW...if we had took the chance and bet the max, we were correct on our Final Answer, just saying! See you next time my friends

We have new Hosts: Larry and Mallory Miller from right here in Huntsville! They were even cool enough to allow me to have one of those Awesome Space pens.

Tonight it's just the 3 of us: Owen, Steve and Myself.
The first question was tough for us. The question was: Who was asked to be a judge on X Factor with an offer of $10 million and turned it down? By now everyone knows she is going to get more money and accept.
Round 2 music question was about the first US concert for the Beatles. Here is the answer for this question: http://youtube/CnspiH4xLRw
Round 3 we are doing better and it's on to the Half Time question. SPORTS
I'm not even going to say much about the sports thing, as we only knew 1 or 2 of them. Now lets move on to Rapid round 4...oh wait, another sports question in that round and we missed it as well. On the bright side, it was only our 3 point answer. Rapid Round 5 is now all ours. We knew the phrase "Erin guh brawk" being that we had Irish Mike, the Mayor of the West End Grill.
That brings us to the Final Question of the night and one that we weren't entirely sure on the answer, so we bet the BIG goose egg and pulled off a 3rd place win!
Here for Beer came in 2nd with 54 points
Bad Idea taking the lead tonight with a grand total of 59 points.
Catch ya up soon on the rest of the games!

Number One With a Bullet, Baby!
We came. We saw. We kicked asssssk me no questions, I'll tell you no lies.
Hey everybody. SpaceTrucker here. I got drafted into writing this blog edition because our team captain, Sandy had to go off and do her Magnum P.I. thing and was unavailable for trivia.
We only had three to show up. Myself, Owen, and Big Mike.
Right off the bat, we lost the first question which was "What color is Grover on Sesame Street? We had no fraking idea, so we went with brown because either Owen or Mike thought that Grover lived in a garbage can and would be brown from all the filth. WRONG!
But from there on up we kicked butt and didn't bother taking names.
At half time the 5 questions were movie quotes which the host read out and we had to name the movie it came from.
We got all of them.
Do you know which movie this is from?
...three four, better lock your door... five six, grab your crucifix...
We sailed on up in the number one position all the way to the final 20 point question.
By then my brain was pickled from the big ass margarita I was nursing the whole time, but the question was something like this: "If you wanted to visit the ruins of Troy, what modern day country would you have to go to?"
Owen and I both said it was Greece, but Mike insisted it was Turkey. We debated it, as usual, up until the last micro second before we had to hand it in.
We went for broke and bid all 20 points, and Mike was right. Good thing he was there.
We sailed away with another numero uno win for the Rejects!
Here is a bonus question for you:
Look on a world map. Do you think that if Iraq were to invade Turkey from the rear, would Greece help?
Hope you have a good day and and if you ever decide you want to get a shiny red butt in trivia, go up against Romero's Rejects. Yeah. I said it! ;-)

Tonights team is: Steve, Owen, Justin, Amoreena, Tru and myself. Mike is out enjoying some family time. We started Round 1 with "What is dramamine used for"? I always love the easy question first. We moved thru the first 3 rounds with only missing a 2 point question. The half time question was top 5 hits. As we all know the number one for weeks has been: Set Fire to the Rain by Adele. For those of you who haven't heard it, I will offer you a chance here: http://youtu.be/xBcMKwbMEcQ
Follow that with Stronger, We are Young, Part of me, and I can't remember the last one.
By half time we were tied for 2nd place with the Tigers in the lead by 2 points. See how important those 2 little points are?
Rapid round 4 was a perfect score. Loved the question of "what is the roman numeral for 400"?
Rapid round 5 we remain strong with knowing "What a conchologists is" I so love the sea shells in Flordia!
For our final question of the night and our hope to gain some ground, It was in US Geography to which we bid the 20 point max and correctly answered the question with Alaska.
This earned us the win for 1st place and a Victory celebration. Oh yeah and the money for 1st place as well. So it was a Wonderful night!
Final scores were: Romero's Rejects (94)
A Team (93)
Clemson Tigers (89)

Tonight we had most of our players. Steve, Mike, Owen, Justin, Amoreena, Tru and Myself. We started the game off doing good in the first 2 rounds. I did enjoy getting the channel correct that shows this Series
Round 3 we didn't do as well on. The chemistry question was worded wrong to get the answer they came up with. However, as the rules state: "If I right or if I'm wrong, I'm always right" that meaning the host. So we missed that question. We felt the correct answer was this: The Atomic Number found here. http://www.colorado.edu/physics/2000/periodic_table/atomic_number.html Now I just now looked this up in order to share it with you. We have all our phone put away during the entire game as not to have anyone ever think we cheat. Don't even get me started on teams that cheat over something this simple!
Half time was all about Heat. In which the guys worked through the answers on the famous napkin process and we got 3 out of 5 correct.
Rapid rounds 4 & 5 we scored a perfect 18 points on each of those. That left us with the Science Category for the Final Question of the night. The answer was in fact: DNA which we all knew. Tonight we didn't place in the winning circle. I think it was due to a mistake in the math, yet it didn't seem enough for us to call them on it. I think there was another team tied with us too. The A Team took first place with a 98 point win, The Pacers in 2nd with having lost the tie breaker to the A team. 3rd place went to Air force 5 with 94 points.
After the game tonight, I paid out our past winnings so that I don't have to keep track of who is due what money. I don't even balance my own check book, so thought this was easier. So far each trivia night, if we win, I plan to just spilt it all up right then and pay cash and I'll keep the certificate and use it the next time. It's not like I won't get to use it the next week. Hope this new system is understood.
I would like to Thank Justin for offering to let me keep the change for the time I take with the blog. It made me smile to know that someone actually reads it :)
So for everyone on our team and anyone wishing to join us

February 9, 2012
We didn't make our regular Tuesday night trivia this week, so when I finished working tonight Steve met me at Las Trojas and we played. Things went pretty good for the first 3 rounds with us only missing the 2 point question on each. Then the half time question set us back. We had to name the artist or group for the following:
1. Let's get it started
2. American Idiot
3. Heaven
4. Yeah
5. Here we go again
How well can you do without looking these up? I'll give you a little help. #1 is Blackeyed Peas and #5 is Ray Charles.
Post a commit if you know the others.
I enjoyed Rapid round 4 the most, as it had Comic Book Hero's and Names for Categories. In Comics, how often does the Green Lantern have to charge his ring?
That answer would be every 24 hours. The best place I found to do some research on the Green Lantern is this site: http://glcorps.dcuguide.com/rings.php
Under Names was the Space Shuttle in 1978. Before I even had time to think about it, Steve told me the answer and history. So here is a little something for all those Star Trek fans out there who did their part in 1978.
"Enterprise, the first Space Shuttle Orbiter, was originally to be named Constitution (in honor of the U.S. Constitution's Bicentennial). However, viewers of the science fiction television series Star Trek started a write-in campaign urging the White House to rename the vehicle to Enterprise. Designated, OV-101, the vehicle was rolled out of Rockwell's Air Force Plant 42, Site 1 Palmdale California assembly facility on Sept. 17, 1976. On Jan. 31, 1977, it was transported 36 miles overland from Rockwell's assembly facility to NASA's Dryden Flight Research Facility at Edwards Air Force Base for the approach and landing test program. "

Then it's on to the Final Question, which sadly we missed and it was in the food category! Oh well. We had fun and even though we didn't get to win at the last, it was worth the fun playing. Our winning team tonight was Holy Frijoles (and yes, I had them write it down) They took 1st place with these team members: Michelle, Andrew, Dave, Kerry and David. I thought there was one more, however I must be mistaken.

Congrats to them, as they had to beat out the largest group of teams in Las Trojas history to play in one night! There were a total of 26 teams competing and some of them very large teams.
Well that brings us all up to date, as we haven't played since this date. That was due to schedules and Valentine's day being this month. I do however expect to see us all back together tonight and having a good time. See you all soon.

On our team tonight is: Steve, Bill, Owen, Mike, Justin, Amoreena and myself.
We started the game off by not knowing the 4 point question in Heavy Metal. After all, who ever heard of Slipknot? At least in the next round they had good questions such as, "who plays the part of Sheldon in the Big Bang Theory?" That is only like one of the best shows to make you laugh, so of course we know Jim Parsons. I didn't know that he is only 2 years younger than myself. His stage make up is really good!

Next we were on to books, Can you name The Millennium-trilogy? It consist of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", "The Girl Who Played With Fire", and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest". After having seen the movie released this last year, It wasn't to hard to know this one. BTW...Please look up and read the IMDB before watching movies like this one. I'm still wishing I had done so before watching it.
We only missed 1 of the 5 part half time question. We were all feeling pretty good about our placement in the rapid rounds. We hung in there with scoring 15 points on each of those 2 rounds. Then it was time for that Final Question of the night. You all know the one I'm talking about. It's what makes or breaks the teams! Tonight's question was about when the White House burned down. Now I know that I should know my history, however I was surprised to even know that it ever had. So far those of you who don't know anything about it, here is a good place to start: http://www.answers.com/topic/when-did-the-white-house-burn-down Needless to say, the other team members knew the answer and we advanced into a 2nd place win!
There was a tie for 3rd place tonight between the Cyber Squad and the Clemson Tigers. So the tie breaker question went out and wouldn't you know it, both teams were correct. So it was a double tie break with the Cyber Squad pulling off the lead for 3rd place. Tonight's 1st place team was the "Wildly Inappropriate's" who had a 5 point lead over us. So that gives each of tonight's players $2.85 each credit. When we get together the next game, I'm going to do a pay out and then from here on, I'll bring cash with me to just split up the money we win the same night. It's to confusing for me to keep track of it this way. BTW, I remember that this new way of keeping track was my idea, so don't rub it in...LOL.

Tonight's team is: Steve, Mike, Owen, Amanda and myself. I have to admit we were not on our game as we started off not knowing that Kenny Hamilton is Justin Bieber's body guard. We did however get the current events and the President questions correct. Baseball was our half time category and we did "ok" this time. It's been quite some time since I kept up with baseball. Even the thousands of cards collected into boxes in my basement shows that I need to revisit the sport and see what (if any) I want to continue collecting. In the Rapid Rounds things went a bit better. I was glad to have the guns category and superstitions one too. Those 2 were easy enough for us all.
I'm sure you all know what this superstition is about and why, right?
I'm sure you all know what this superstition is about and why, right?
This brings tonights game to a close. I would love to tell you who won, however, I didn't make any notes. Not even at half time to know who was winning then. I do know that we didn't win :( yet we always have fun and enjoy our team of friends.

Tonights team is: Steve, Amanda, Myself, Mike and Owen. We enjoyed the very first question because it brought back some really good memories. The question was something like this: What was the fictional corporation that features prominently in the Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote cartoons as a running gag featuring outlandish products that fail catastrophically at the worst possible times?
While my daughter didn't have a clue, the rest of us all knew it. Sometime I need to sit down and watch a few of these with her.

We held a perfect score all the way to half time :) Here we gained some points and moved on into the Rapid rounds. Keeping our heads in the game we scored the max on both of those rounds as well. We were geared up and ready to go with the Final Question, which, you guessed it. We got that one right as well...Wah Hoo.
The Wild Stallions took 1st place with only a couple points more than us. We were 2nd and I think the Hard Rollers were in 3rd place. I could be wrong about that. So tonight we each have a credit of $4.00 to which we will be able to use next time or when we choose. Not bad for all the fun we had.
So for now
January 3, 2012
We started this new year off with just Mike, Steve and myself. Our core buddy Owen is enjoying some family time and we miss him!
We missed only the 2 point question in each of the first 3 rounds. Sports was our half time category and we all admit that it's not our subject! Moving into the rapid rounds, we gained points very well and even knew the final question which put us in 3rd place for the ending of the night. The Clemson Tigers came in 2nd and 1st place went to the Hard Rollers. That was after the tie breaker between those 2 teams. It wasn't bad to come in only 9 points behind the winning team. This also gave us the last of the money we needed for everyone on the team to spend their winnings. Next we will start a new system of keeping track of the winnings. More to that story later on.
Time to close this out and move on into the next game.

Here we are at the Final game of Trivia for 2011. What a fun year it's been for Romero's Rejects. We have met new friends and enjoyed our team. Tonight's team is one of our largest teams yet.
Left to right back row: Amoreena, Ronald, JoAnn, Trisha, Patrick, Mike, Vanessa, Ron, Nick, Kate and Justin
Middle row: Sandy, ? and ?
Front row: Steve
We started tonight off with all getting to know each other. It was very cool to have the last game this year with new friends.
Now as for the game, we knew the answer to every question in the first 3 rounds. It was Half time before we knew it and everyone was having a great time. We only missed 1 part of the half time question and moved right into the Rapid rounds. In Rapid round 4 we missed the government question. However we knew all the rest. Now in Rapid round 5 was the famous words from a classic movie. "Dying at much of a living boy...." Let's see if anyone on here knows what movie it's from?
Now the Final Question of the night was in Literature. Our host never even finished the question before Steve grabbed the answer sheet, wrote down the correct answer, bet the max and was on his was to hand in the small slip of paper that would seal our Victory!
The actual question was something like this: Who wrote " Cat's Cradle (1963), Slaughterhouse-Five (1969) and Breakfast of Champions (1973) ? The answer was: Kurt Vonnegut![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnSWbjpp7lEJIc_rAJAwunZ55r7Vb5Fm7akZ0zQMe8reDFV9tIaOm0A3U8QnLlK0D7mBwD2wmxobVqoq_wLCDaRPgCQbsMazNW2GSlz4jwV4eST_eg6ZNXXf0-KHjdGlYcwUMSjGTZGXk/s320/Kurt-Vonnegut.jpg)

We finished the night in 1st place with 97 points out of a possible 102 per game! We were all cheering and I can't think of any better way to have ended the 2011 year of Trivia than with this Wonderful group of friends!
Bad Idea took 2nd place and I can't remember who was in 3rd place, we were all having to much fun talking and celebrating by the time of that announcement.
Now it's time to look for the new year of games and fun. Who knows what 2012 will bring, so hold on to your hats and the hands of those around you. Draw from their strengths and forgive their weaknesses. Hugs to all and a Blessed future of happiness is my prayer.
See you all in the New Year!

December 22, 2011
We missed playing on Tuesday night this week due to everyone having Christmas parties to attend. However we did get to play tonight. Our team was Steve, Herman, Amanda and myself. We played at Las Trojas again.
The night started off with Amanda knowing the first answer to who sang "We found love in a hopeless place". We missed the sports question, I have no idea why we have those questions that aren't related to BAMA football. OH well, I guess others like different stuff and so we must let them have a chance too.
By the end of half time we had a score of 34 points.
We had also lost one of the teams that was playing by them getting disqualified for cheating with the cell phones....We have good hosts and they did a great job of handling it. So the "ho ho ho's" we so so so BUSTED and Never Trusted. Ok, enough of that, back to the game.
TV was the category for Rapid round 4. We only missed the Mike & Molly show question, it was CBS and not Fox. Perfect score for rapid round 5 and moved right on to the final question of the night. Under State Capitals, What location is known as "The Land of Enchantment", lets give a cheer if you said "New Mexico" Which we did, however we only bid 2 points because we weren't sure enough. That wasn't enough to win us a place in the final 3 spots. So tonight's winning teams were:
Truffle Shuffles in 3rd
Band down by the Rio in 2nd
Uh oh Hot Dog in 1st place.
It was sure fun playing tonight and it's almost Christmas, how I miss my girls being little enough to believe in SANTA! See you all after the Holidays.

Tonights team is: Mike, Steve, Owen, Justin, Amoreena, Tru and myself.
The night started off with us getting only the sports question wrong, sure glad it was only 2 points! Loved that they had a question about current movies that are now showing. Not to mention that we already seen it :)
Round 2 was a painful experience with knowing some of the answers in our head and not being able to remember on paper. For example was the South Park characters question: Who is The school's counselor, who says "M'Kay" randomly?

While Steve knew his part and loves the show, We put down Mr. Mckey and it should have been "Mr. Mackey" Then it was time for Country music....ugh. I do like some of it, however this didn't help us any and we scored our first 0 in a some time now.
As we moved into round 3, things began to look up for us. Starting with the first question being on Chinese Checkers. If you have 2 players, how many marbles does each player have on the board? Since I love this game and grew up playing it, the board was ingrained in my mind and we took the answer straight up. ![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP8wi9wmFMVsY2eygi4g-A33_j_sY0Nd9DQQrVIIYl5Ku1OSm3Kk8Jnyv9ECkV7Wg96aRudai1c6rFhzjBB6Vl18AmxcyczhcOUxv4b_Euzqn5pnk_MTSv05jStiuMoF5ae8vSK2trWms/s320/chinese-checkers-oriental-m.jpg)

The half time question was on Presidents and we scored a perfect 10 on those.
The rapid rounds went in our favor and we held our own. Then it came time for that Last and sometimes most important question of the game. Category: "Things"
In 1840, the world's first adhesive postage stamp went on public sale where? The correct answer is "post offices through-out Britain". It was called "Penny Black" if you want to know why, google it.
Our host of the evening was Jeff and he did a fine job. See you all next time
November Games 2011
November 1st: Steve and I played. We did pretty good for a 2 person team. We only missed 2 points in the whole first half and even scored half the points in the half time question! In the rapid rounds we missed only 6 points. However at the final question, we could have came in 3rd if we hadn't bet it all and missed it :(
The winner was Clemson Tigers
No matter, we had fun.
November 8th: I would like to welcome our new hosts, Rob and Allie Easley who did a great job keeping things rolling.
Our team is bigger tonight, we have Mike, Steve, Owen, Justin, Amoreena, Tru and myself.
We did good in the first half and even knew what it was that Jack traded for the magic beans in the children's story "Jack and the Beanstalk"
We scored perfect in both rapid rounds! This brought our score to 72 for the final question of the night. The catagory was Presidents
Now here is your question: Who was the 1st President born in a Hospital?
We did get the answer correct, however we did not bid any points and so we tied for 2nd place with the team "New Balance"
The tie breaker question was:
What year did Roentgen discovered the X-ray? Our answer was 1890. The correct answer was 1895. We beat out the other team and took 2nd place.
First place tonight went to "The Specialist"
This brings November trivia to a close and it's on to December!

Well this is going to be a short one. There were 17 teams playing against us. On the RR team tonight is Mike, Steve, Owen and myself.
We missed the 2 point questions religiously! Giving us a half time score of 34
During the rapid rounds, we missed only the 3 point questions and felt pretty good with ourselves.
We did good in the Final question, however not good enough to beat out the top 3 teams.
Those were:
Rebells with 87
Clemson Tigers with 89
The Specialist with a first place win of 90 points, talk about a close game!
Have fun and I plan to put all of Novembers and Decembers (except for final game) into one post sometime tomorrow.
I hope to be able to blog after each game real soon.

Our team is Mike, Steve and myself again this week. We started out not doing so well in the first 2 rounds with a good come back in round 3. One of the questions was: What is CBS Sunday morning political talk show called? Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer
The half time question was: What are the top 5 male names used today?
James
John
Robert
William
Michael
The rapid rounds really sent us down hill on not knowing our Country music and Video games. Who knew that video games would sink a team..ha. Oh well. We did get the Final Question which was: What is the most common female name?
Do you think you know the answer?
Let me give you a hint,

Tonight was Las Trojas with Steve, Mike, Owen and myself. We started off slow and moved forward with each round. By half time we had 32 points. The half time question was to match the actors with the shows they played in:
Don Draper - Mad Men
Jack Teller - 24
Glen Quagmire - Family Guy
Horatio Cane - CSI Miami
Christina Yang - Grey's Anatomy
We pulled off a perfect 2 rapid rounds and moved into a tie for 1st place with the team Roy Brown. Dean's list took 3rd place tonight with 84 points. Now granted October was many months ago, and my notes do not tell what the tie breaker question was or which team took first place. So maybe BrainBlastTrivia would have that answer? Who knows and I'm not going to take the time to try and find out. So if you do find out, please post a commit below and let us know. Either way we won that night and enjoyed the time together.
